Kecak dance is a traditional art originating from Indonesia, especially Bali. One of the dances that is well known in foreign countries.
The Kecak dance is called the Cak Dance or fire dance. This dance is a mass entertainment performance dance that depicts acting and is not accompanied by musical instruments or gamelan. This dance is played by a man and usually consists of approximately 70 dancers who are circular wearing a checkered cloth covering the shape of a chess board.
This dance may be very sacred, it can be seen from a dancer who is burning with fire, but experiencing immunity and not burning. Kecak dance is also called Sanghyang Dance which may be performed from time to time for religious ceremonies. A dancer is usually possessed by a spirit and can communicate with the gods or ancestors who have been purified. The dancer is used as a medium to express His words.
The origin of the Kecak dance itself was founded by Wayan Limbak who was a figure who created the Kecak Dance. In 1930, Limbak had popularized this dance abroad and was assisted by Walter Spies, a painter from Germany. The male dancers who dance kecak will shout the word 'cak cak cak'. From there the name Kecak was created.

On February 25, 2018, the Kecak dance received an award from MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) because it succeeded in performing a Kecak dance with the number of dancers, namely 5555 on Berawa Beach, Bali.
